I don't know how many of you have followed the news about the horrible weather Peru has been having lately, but the area I will be living in is currently in a State of Emergency due to torrential rain. There have been floods, landslides and thousands of families and tourists displaced due to the rains. Luckily, it looks as if we will still be able to fly into Cusco as planned (if just a bit delayed). I really want to get there and see what kind of help we can be for those who have lost their homes.
Mother Nature is just one force you cannot control! We will just have to see how this affects our placement in a host family and in the health clinic when we get there. Please send good thoughts to the people of the Cusco region.
On a side note, I've finished packing and am just trying to make the rounds to say goodbyes. Monday is going to come quite quickly!!

ReplyDeleteHi Allison! I've been reading your blog and am so excited for you. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Super Bowl game. Still can't believe how adventureous you are and I'm extremely jealous. Wish I was more like that....anyway, can't wait to see pictures.
